Years ago I made candy canes doing double crochet onto a long chain. Somehow they twisted around and looked kinda like a barbers pole. Any idea how I did it? Thx

I’m knitting Drizzle Beanie and am confused about the decrease rounds: R 1,3,5 knit all sts R 2 * p1, sl 1, p1, cdd * R 4 * cdd, k1 * Is the sl 1 in R 2 part of the cdd? How about the k1 in R 4? I usually do a sl2, k1, p2sso as a cdd. Not sure how to continue… TIA!
